On June 24th, Tassei Denki launched its Kickstarter campaign for the G’AIM’E Plug & Play Time Crisis Gun, a device designed to enable play of Time Crisis and similar light gun games on modern TVs. With an initial funding goal of $48,284 set for August 23rd, the project has already exceeded expectations. By 3:00 PM CST on June 25th, the campaign had raised $370,806, a figure that continued to grow rapidly even as this article was being drafted.
As of now, there are no announcements regarding stretch goals. It’s uncertain whether Tassei Denki anticipated this overwhelming interest, particularly from international audiences. Based in Japan, the Kickstarter page primarily offers pre-orders for the light gun itself, with various models priced between $87 and $205. The price variations can be attributed to additional items like a keychain or bundle options that include games such as Steel Gunner and Point Blank, alongside Time Crisis, as well as a pedal controller.
Some versions cater to international customers with English-language game options. The project’s significant success raises questions about its potential availability in retail stores. All units are expected to ship by November 2025, which will soon reveal to Kickstarter backers whether this modern adaptation of classic games is as authentic as Tassei Denki claims.
