ROGUEish: A Promising Roguelike C64 Game from Syntaxerrorsoftware (UPDATE)

ROGUEish - This roguelike C64 game by Syntaxerrorsoftware looks pretty decent (UPDATE)

I have a deep appreciation for roguelikes; they’re among my favorite genres, especially when I’m exploring dark dungeons in search of loot while dodging a variety of foes. If you share my passion for this gaming experience, be sure to check out Syntaxerrorsoftware’s upcoming Commodore 64 title, ‘ROGUEish’. This roguelike is available for the C64, whether through emulation or on actual hardware, and you can try out an early teaser demo right now!

Here’s the latest scoop: “ROGUEish is a roguelike designed for the C64, inspired by titles like Rogue 64 (a C64 classic), RogueCraft (originally for Amiga), and even Marvel Avengers Alliance (a now-defunct online game). Additionally, I was influenced by Lazy Devs Academy’s YouTube tutorial series, which covers creating a game called Porklike using Pico-8!”

JUNE UPDATE: The developer has released a new demo with the following message: “Great news! I’ve updated the free two-level demo to reflect the latest ROGUEish source code. The demo retains the current SID tune, but the final version will include a different track.”
