JOTD is making strides in Amiga development! Following the successful conversion of the 1981 arcade game ‘Lock n Chase’ by Data East, he’s now tackling the transformation of the renowned beach volleyball game, ‘U.S. Championship V’Ball’ from Technōs Japan. Originally launched in 1988, this arcade classic was later adapted for the NES and the X68000. Below, you’ll find the latest gameplay footage from the developer.

If you’re unfamiliar with the game, here’s a brief overview from Wikipedia: “Players control two beach bums, George and Michael, who earn their living playing beach volleyball against locals. They discover a flyer for a national tournament with a $2,500,000 prize. In single-player mode, one person controls both characters; in two-player mode, players can either team up or compete against each other.”
Dev Notes: US Champ V’Ball features 128 colors! While reducing to 64 may be feasible, it would be a shame. Let’s test its performance on real hardware first. A 32-color version may also be possible for ECS, though it would be a bit washed out.
