A Mortal Kombat II AGA Project for the Amiga Using Scorpion Engine is Under Development!

A Mortal Kombat II AGA project for the Amiga via Scorpion Engine is in the works!

While scrolling through Facebook for some midweek updates, I stumbled upon an exciting announcement from the Scorpion Engine page: RetroRic (Wardner) is developing a Mortal Kombat II AGA project. This new endeavor utilizes Earok’s Scorpion engine. Although it’s thrilling news, matching the original game will be a tough challenge! As one enthusiast put it, “The 1993 version is a rock-solid port! It had all the moves (except for Shang Tsung’s morphs) and played exceptionally well, even with a single button. It was arguably my favorite Amiga game back in the day.”

Currently, there isn’t much information available, so bear with me. The developer shared, “This is running on AGA in the video above. This build is already using 1.5MB chip RAM, and I have just begun working on the animations for one character! For OCS/ECS systems, it requires fast RAM to avoid slowdowns. To create a playable demo or full game, I believe you’d need at least 2MB chip RAM and 1MB fast RAM.”

Stay tuned for updates!
