As a Retronaut, I’ve been candid about my limited connection to Sonic the Hedgehog. I even hosted an episode exploring Sonic Frontiers as an outsider to the fandom and its lore. However, even with my relative inexperience, it’s clear that after Nintendo successfully transitioned their beloved characters from 2D to 3D, Sega’s efforts with Sonic fell short of expectations.
