At Retro Faith, we are always intrigued by anything with “8-Bit” in its title. The recent release of a demo for 8-Bit Adventures 2 has caught our attention, especially since we previously reported on the game’s announcement. In a recent interview, developer Critical Games shared more details about the game’s upcoming release on consoles.
Critical Games explained that after a successful PC launch, they wanted to meet fan demand for a console release. They believe that consoles are the perfect platform to experience the epic story of 8-Bit Adventures 2, as they are known for being home to the JRPG genre.
The developers cited influences such as Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy IX and X, and Mother 3, which influenced the storytelling and battle mechanics of the game. They also mentioned that they drew lessons from various JRPGs across the genre.
A free demo of the game is now available for Xbox, with versions for Switch and PlayStation set to follow soon. The full game is scheduled for release on October 16, 2024. Stay tuned for our review before the release date.
