Indie Retro News: Unveiling The Last Door

Indie Retro News: The Last Door

In June 2014, I had the opportunity to experience “The Last Door” developed by The Game Kitchen—one of the standout adventure horror titles of that year for PC (link). It beautifully captured the nostalgic essence of Sierra games, featuring a captivating episodic narrative filled with chilling moments. Excitingly, this PC classic might be making its way to the Amiga! During the Posadas 2025 Homebrew Games competition, Daniel Pontiveros showcased an Amiga preview of the game, which was available as a downloadable version and secured 4th place in the contest!

Unfortunately, apart from an executable download, details on the game remain sparse. It’s uncertain whether it will develop into a full feature, and I couldn’t find information on the tools used for its creation. For those familiar with the original PC release, it presented a distinctive low-resolution aesthetic that cultivated a uniquely immersive atmosphere, accompanied by an original orchestral score by Carlos Viola. The game drew influence from the works of H.P. Lovecraft and Edgar Allan Poe while being set in actual locations!

UPDATE: The developer of the Amiga port responded to my previous article, stating, “The game is being developed with Blitz Basic 2.10. I apologize for the lack of information; this is my first contribution to the Amiga scene, and I was quite nervous at the Posadas Party. I’m currently working on the final version, and you’ll be able to enjoy it on your Amiga soon! “
