Get ready, retro enthusiasts—the legendary Vectrex is making a comeback, now in a compact form! Its exciting debut at Gamescom 2025, the Vectrex Mini offers a fresh take on the iconic 1982 vector-based console and is already turning heads in Hall 10’s Retro Area.
For those unfamiliar, the original Vectrex was a pioneer, featuring the only home console with a built-in vector display, translucent overlays, lightpen compatibility, and even 3D goggles. It was like having a mini arcade right in your living room. Now, over four decades later, the Vectrex Mini aims to bring back that nostalgic charm in a tinier, cuter package.

What’s New in the Mini?
- It’s 1/3rd the size of the original, yet remains an all-in-one unit

The Vectrex Mini is in development by a dedicated French team. Although still a prototype, excitement is high, with fans at Gamescom queuing up to experience it first-hand. The Mini sits charmingly next to its full-sized predecessor, reminiscent of a retro gaming Matryoshka doll.
Kickstarter Announced!
The team plans to launch a Kickstarter campaign in September, so if you’ve ever wanted a Vectrex without spending a fortune on eBay, this is your chance to get involved.
