July 3, 2025 – Cloanto has launched version 11 (build 11.0.22.0) of
Amiga Forever and
C64 Forever, the official suites for Commodore/Amiga preservation, emulation, and support on Windows.
After more than two years of development, this
new generation introduces physical elements with high-fidelity virtual printers, touchscreen support, and handheld device compatibility, merging classic computing with contemporary interactions.
The latest virtual printers (EpsonQ, MPS 803, and CBM 8026) are designed for exceptional performance, producing sharp vector text and vibrant color graphics with live previews. They set a new standard for virtual printing capabilities.
For advanced Amiga users favoring PostScript printing, a new integration with optional Ghostscript software allows rendering of Amiga PostScript to non-PostScript printers, or converting output to vector-based PDF.
On the CBM 8-bit side, two new virtual printers are available. The MPS 803 emulates an authentic dot matrix experience using scalable vector dots, while the CBM 8026 combines laser-quality text with features like “quote mode,” reverse print, and PETSCII characters—capabilities that were absent in the original, costly daisy wheel hardware.
All printers come with a wide-carriage option and support extended character sets, including European and Japanese characters used in C128, C64, VIC 1001, and VIC 20 models. Version 11 also introduces PETSCII TrueType fonts for precise export and editing of printed materials.
For enhanced nostalgia, a virtual fanfold paper feature simulates perforations and cut marks, creating the quintessential “retro printer” effect. As one excited user noted, “I’ve always wanted to print in the old dot matrix style on modern printers.” Cloanto’s RetroPlatform framework allows shared access to virtual devices like modems and printers across systems, enabling connections between 8-bit printers and the Amiga, or legacy systems like the PET or C64 to utilize EpsonQ or PostScript emulation.
The new version also includes native touchscreen support, allowing for swipe, pan, and pinch gestures as well as multi-touch functionality for the virtual keyboard. The keyboard can now be used in a new Overlay mode, optimized for fullscreen usage and interaction via touchscreen or game controllers.
In a year poised to be transformative for handheld devices, Amiga Forever 11 and C64 Forever 11 enhance portability with touchscreen features, the new overlay virtual keyboard, and expanded game controller shortcuts.
Numerous additional features and improvements have been included in this release. With several updates to Windows since the previous major versions of Amiga Forever and C64 Forever, the updated codebase offers improved compatibility with features introduced in Windows 11 and Windows 10 versions up to 25H2.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all supporters of this project who share our enthusiasm for the Amiga and CBM 8-bit legacy.

Visual Tours
We offer helpful highlights for YouTubers and visual explorers. Some highlight the classic 8-bit CBM systems, while others display features shared with the advanced Amiga environments.
- Amiga – Want to print like it’s 2025? Start “Amiga 4000 Enhanced 3.X” from the Systems folder, click Clown.pic at the bottom, then select Print from the Project menu to explore new print and preview features. Zoom in/out using Ctrl + Scroll wheel. For a slower print experience to see color stripes appear one by one, start “Amiga 2000 Enhanced 1.3” and run GraphicDump.
- 8-Bit – Interested in the iconic MPS 803 6×7 dot matrix printer? Discover the “MPS 803 Printer Playground” in C64 Forever (under Applications). It includes the user guide and ready-to-load sample listings.
- Shared – Experience a BBS like it’s 1985 with C64 Forever by launching CCGMS! and connecting to a BBS from the phone book.
