What If OutRun Had Been Released for Game Boy Color? A Project by Rocketship Park

A what if OutRun was released for the Game Boy Color project by Rocketship Park

Indie Retro News is excited to present the latest project: a version of OutRun for the Game Boy Color, developed by Rocketship Park. Originally launched in arcades by Sega in 1986, OutRun has seen ports to various systems like the Amstrad and Amiga, but never to the Game Boy Color. Rocketship Park aims to change that with a version that captures the original’s look, feel, and sound—truly a thrilling update!

According to the project website, “The Game Boy never had its own version of OutRun back in the 80s. While developing another Game Boy title (Hero GP), I wondered how that could be changed and what it might look like. This demo/prototype is the result of that exploration. You can play it directly on this page or download the ROM for use with an Emulator, a real Game Boy Color, or an Analogue Pocket. Enjoy!”
