Operation Steel Rain: Check Out This Cool WIP Mech Platformer for Amiga (+DEMO) [Update]

Operation Steel Rain - This WIP mech platformer for the Amiga looks rather cool (+DEMO) [update]

Although it’s still January, we’ve already seen a flurry of Amiga game news that’s nearly overwhelming! Titles like Bad Dudes vs DragonNinja, Castlevania AGA, Tracker Hero, and WIZONK have made headlines. The excitement continues, as I’ve learned that 2Bit Combo is developing a mech platformer called ‘Operation Steel Rain.’ This game, powered by the Scorpion Engine, draws inspiration from SNES and Sega Mega Drive classics like Assault Suits Valken (Cybernator), Front Mission: Gun Hazard, and Ranger-X.

According to the developer, “Operation Steel Rain is a retro-inspired mecha platform game reminiscent of the SNES and Mega Drive era, similar to titles like Assault Suits Valken (Cybernator), Front Mission: Gun Hazard, and Ranger-X. It’s being developed for Amiga AGA computers using the impressive Scorpion Engine, which allows for potential ports to platforms like MegaDrive and NeoGeo in the future. Currently, the project is in its early stages, and this ‘demo’ lets players walk, jump, fly, and even destroy some enemies—though it’s still a work in progress.”

Update: The developer has released a new test build, stating, “It’s been a while since my last update. This new demo is still just a test, but features include aiming control for shooting at 45-degree angles, plus infantry enemies and various fixes.”
