I never imagined witnessing an enhanced edition of an Amsoft classic, especially Harrier Attack. It stands out as one of my favorite games on the Amstrad CPC 464, and Chris Perver’s remake for the Amstrad CPC Plus brings me immense retro joy. Originally launched in 1984, Harrier Attack allows players to pilot a British Harrier Jet on bombing missions, targeting both enemy structures and aircraft.

Here’s an interesting fact: “Some people believe that Harrier Attack was coded in BASIC, likely due to its sluggish pace, grid-like movements, and 8×8 character sprites. However, it was actually written in machine code. Its slow performance is attributed to the screen scrolling byte by byte. The programmer also included loops to intentionally slow down the game, likely to make it more accessible for younger players on earlier levels. Since Harrier Attack is relatively straightforward, I decided to disassemble it and see if I could enhance its speed. The outcome is Harrier Attack Reloaded!”
