Clear River Games, a Swedish company, has announced the release of Snow Bros. 2 Special for the Nintendo Switch on April 10th. This news comes after the release of Snow Bros. Wonderland last November on the Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, and Playstation 5. The original Snow Bros. game debuted in arcades in 1990 and featured colorful, cartoony characters with unique abilities similar to Bubble Bobble.
Tatsujin, a Japanese company, is collaborating on the release of Snow Bros. 2 Special. Founded by Masahiro Yuge, a former Toaplan employee, Tatsujin acquired Toaplan’s intellectual properties in 2017. Since Snow Bros. 2 was Toaplan’s final release in 1994, it has never been previously ported to game consoles.
The remake of Snow Bros. 2 Special features an arcade perfect mode for those looking to play the game in its original form, as well as a newly upgraded graphics mode. Additional features in this version include bonus modes like Survival, Time Attack, and Sky Run, as well as a Monster Challenge mode where players can control enemy characters. New stages, monsters, bosses, and local four player co-op are also included. The game will be released digitally and physically on April 10th, 2024.
