Kickstarter Kompilation: October 2026 edition

A Very British Pumpkin Season

My absolute favorite month of the year has arrived but I’m afraid there’s nothing particularly spooky about this batch of crowdfunding campaigns. I guess if you want to feel scared you can read the news instead, lol!!

As a general rule we recommend only backing crowdfunding campaigns if you feel comfortable with your own security and stability. We have no insider information or financial interest in any of these projects (unless noted otherwise) and no one at Retronauts has been compensated for including anything on this page. To the best of my ability I have not (and never will) endorse any campaign built around AI-generated assets.

RPM Issue 9&10 (ends TODAY estimated reward date November 2026)
Sandeep Rai returns with his (unofficial) Retro PlayStation Magazine, looking to fund two new issues. #9 will feature Shadow of the Colossus on the cover while #10 spotlights Dragon’s Crown. There’s also a shopper’s guide focused on the upcoming closure of the PS3 and Vita storefronts. You wanna spend more money, right?

Drakoko ドラココ (ends October 9 estimated reward date April 2027)
This new Game Boy Color cartridge (or ROM if you prefer) stars a cute little dragon mother flying through a massive maze that scrolls in all directions. In its corridors she’ll find dragon babies and cursed creatures that she must free from evil’s influence.

The Matthew Smith Collection (ends October 21 estimated reward date February 2027)
“Matthew Smith is widely considered a legend in the video game industry and needs no introduction.” I learn so much writing these round-ups! Anyway, this boxset gathers a few of Mr. Smith’s biggest games: Styx, Manic Miner, and Jet Set Willy. Backers can also get Andre’s Night Off as an add-on.

Untitled Indie Metroidvania (ends October 29 estimated reward date December 2026)
I can’t say no to an indie Metroidvania even when the developer seems to call their game Metroidvania? Nintendo won’t like that! There’s a demo on itch.io and, as part of the campaign page, a fake Japanese magazine screenshot. Only thing left is to pick a new name.

The Rubber-Keyed Wonder (ends November 2 estimated reward date April 2027)
OK I cracked a joke about Matthew Smith above but even I, a filthy American, know about the ZX* Spectrum. This tome, however, would teach me a lot more about the little computer that helped forge the British gaming landscape. Also, the author is Kim Justice, a former contributor to this website!

*I refuse to call it “Zedex” though.
