Kickstarter Highlights: July 2025 Edition

Kickstarter Kompilation: July 2025 edition

Attention book and spooky fans!

…and just like that, we’ve shifted from “early 2025” to “late 2025.” Personally, I’m eager for 2026 to arrive! As always, we don’t have insider info or financial ties to any of these projects, and none of the Retronauts team have been compensated for mentioning anything here. I also want to clarify that I do not endorse any AI-driven campaigns. Given the ongoing pandemic, please only support crowdfunding initiatives if you feel secure and stable enough to do so.

Playing With History (campaign ends July 3, estimated rewards by December 2025)
So many video games are set in our past—what can we learn from them? Originally a series of articles, “Playing With History” by Ade Burrows and Jim Hargreaves is evolving into a book described as a “time-traveling companion.”

Sega Mania Magazine Issue 9 (campaign ends July 5, estimated rewards by September 2025)
The focus of this magazine is clear. This upcoming ninth issue will explore the year 1996 and the shift from 2D to 3D gaming as well as the transition from 16-bit to CD consoles.

Nemunai (campaign ends July 6, estimated rewards by July 2025)
Indie developers often create loving tributes to 90s survival horror, but “Nemunai” stands out with its unique focus on melee combat—who needs a shotgun when you can use your bare hands to take down monsters?

WALK (campaign ends July 12, estimated rewards by October 2026)
Coincidentally, this is another retro survival horror game. It initially began as part of the Haunted PS1 Demo Disc 2021, and the developers are looking to expand it into a full experience. You can try the original demo here before investing.

Triangle X Squared O (campaign ends July 16, estimated rewards by October 2025)
In this round, returning fundraiser Sandeep Rai aims to publish a book solely dedicated to wrestling video games. While the final version will include modern releases, there’s plenty to explore regarding the history of wrestling and its influence in gaming.

Skyless Blind (campaign ends July 20, estimated rewards by August 2026)
I’ve become increasingly interested in RPGMaker horror games, and this one caught my eye! “Vibrant pixel art, environmental visual effects, ambient sound design, and music work together to create the immersive and emotional world of Skyless Blind.” You can play a beta version here.
