Indie Retro News: Wardner - Toaplan/Taito's Arcade game gets a Commodore Amiga level 3 Demo via RetroRic

Fresh off the press for the Commodore Amiga community, as not only is the 1987 Arcade game of ‘Wardner’ still coming to the Amiga via RetroRic, developed using Earok’s Scorpion Engine. But as of today you can download a new level 3 demo. If you’ve not heard of this game before, it’s a side-scrolling platformer developed by Toaplan and published in arcades worldwide by Taito in 1987. A game in which you play as Dover on a journey to rescue his kidnapped girlfriend Mia from the evil warlock. In light of this news, we’ve got some new footage of the game below.

And here’s the full details. “Released in arcades and published by Taito in 1987, Toaplan’s Wardner is an action platformer in much the same vein as Ghosts ‘n Goblins/Ghouls ‘n Ghosts.  The similarities end there though as Wardner has its own special mechanics and flavour to bring to the genre. Players assume the role of a child named Dover on a journey to rescue his kidnapped girlfriend Mia from the dastardly warlock Mr Wardner.  Development is currently ongoing but please feel free to leave comments and feedback on the current progress.”.
