Indie Retro News: Star Skimmer Unveiled

A new entry in the SEUCK competition has been released: ‘Star Skimmer’ by Alf Yngve and Martin Piper. This homebrew title for the Commodore 64 is an arcade-style shoot ’em up featuring vertical scrolling gameplay, diverse enemy waves, and plenty of laser action. The story centers on Cole Skimmer, who embarks on a perilous mission to thwart the evil Nitwup empire’s scheme to conquer Planet Earth. Below, you’ll find more details and gameplay footage.

According to the TND competition page: “One of my favorite aspects of a SEUCK competition is a great space shooter. And Alf Yngve delivers precisely that with Star Skimmer, a vertical scrolling blaster designed for a single player. You take on the role of Cole Skimmer, a courageous pilot from the Federation, tasked with stopping the Nitwup empire’s sinister plans. To succeed, you’ll need to get close to various asteroids and obliterate enemy bases. But watch out—the aliens are monitoring your every move, and there are also astronauts in need of rescue. Star Skimmer includes several impressive SEUCK Redux enhancements that Martin has embedded, but I encourage you to discover them for yourself!”
