Indie Retro News: Hexapucchu - An Amstrad adventure with stunning graphics by Eric Cubizolle and Pulsophonic

This week features an intriguing homebrew game that diverges from traditional platformers or shoot ’em ups—introducing ‘Hexapucchu’ for the Amstrad CPC, developed by Titan. This adventure game transports players back to the classic era of commands like North, South, Look, and Pick Up. It’s refreshing to see such a well-crafted title in the Amstrad CPC adventure genre. Below, you’ll find screenshots, gameplay footage, and additional details from the developer’s website.

Here are some details about the game: “Hexapucchu was developed in 15 days, inspired by my longstanding dream to create an adventure game reminiscent of Devilry II, which I programmed during my youth in 1989. On July 18, 2025, I sketched the first screen for the game—the title screen—while on vacation. I dedicated this time to developing the project intensively. Each screen followed in quick succession, and while the main storyline emerged progressively, it did so almost instinctively.”

  • Within a week, 75% of development was completed.
  • The game design was finalized the following week, despite a slower pace as I returned to work.
  • A special thanks to Pulsophonic for the music, Roudoudou for their guidance, and Demoniak for their tools and crucial assistance.
