The upcoming first-person shooter game ‘Grind’ for the Commodore Amiga 500 and above has some exciting news. Saberman has informed us that there is a new DevArena map available for testing (Patreon Paywall), along with updates showcasing the latest fixes and features added to the game. To go along with this announcement, we have new footage of the game and more details below.
The latest build introduces the Dev Arena, a revamped version of the TestArena map. It serves as a platform to test new enemies, items, and systems while highlighting all the new additions to the game. Version 0.6 of the Dev Arena Build includes performance optimizations like a new “turbo” wall renderer, additional enhancements for low-end configurations, and an option to remove non-interactive decorations for improved performance.
Several bug fixes have been implemented, addressing issues with real Amiga setups and accelerators, crashes during gameplay, and sound glitches on accelerated Amigas. Gameplay additions include new explosion and blood particles, enhanced grenade mechanics, and improved enemy behavior behind doors.
Visual and audio enhancements include new particle graphics, enemy overhauls, improved sound effects, and redesigned player projectiles. The release also specifies the system requirements for the ADF and HD versions of the game.
The game credits go to John Tsakiris for game design, gfx, sfx, and map design, with additional contributions from Krzysztof Kluczek (KK/Altair), Temisu, Remz, BSzili, and others. Music credits include Christoffer Magdalus and DMA-SC, with additional graphics by Dennis Ramberg.
