Another Amiga game? Oh Yes! Welcome to Bóbr Hopper, a native AmigaOS port crafted by developer angree. Taking clear inspiration from arcade-style crossing games, the title tasks players with guiding either a beaver or a chicken safely across a treacherous series of roads, rivers, and train tracks. The game features bilingual support in English and Polish and offers two primary modes: a classic endless high-score chaser and a multi-level progression path complete with a dedicated career mode and ranks. While the core logic is a direct, line-for-line replication of the developer’s previous work on handheld retro systems like the SF2000, GB300, and R36S, the underlying engine has been built completely from scratch specifically to squeeze performance out of classic Commodore Amiga hardware.

Technically, the game utilizes a clever pre-rendered approach designed to run smoothly on a stock 68020 processor without requiring a mathematical Floating Point Unit (FPU). According to the creator, everything operates on 16.16 fixed-point math, utilizing a rigid orthographic camera system that ensures objects remain the exact same size on screen regardless of where they are positioned. The visual assets are pre-baked once offline and saved as individual sprites, allowing the Amiga to efficiently paint them in order from the background to the foreground. The attention to detail is high too, boasting 11 distinct poses and 12 directional angles for the main hero—covering every squish, stretch, and collision—alongside four directional renders for obstacles like cars, trees, and rocks. Impressively, the logs aren’t pre-cut as flat pictures but are dynamically clipped right at the water line in real-time. To maintain compatibility across different setups, the package includes a low-res 320×240 set (1.6 MB) and a high-res 640×480 set (6.4 MB), with the engine smartly loading only the graphical data it requires.
