Indie Retro News: Astronaut Jet Pac

Another Amiga title has surfaced this week with Rozsoft’s new Amiga game called Astronaut Jet Pac, a nod to the iconic ZX Spectrum classic Jet Pac developed by Ultimate Play the Game. This game drops you into the space boots of a stranded astronaut lost in the depths of the cosmos. Your main mission is straightforward but intense: dodge erratic alien enemies, gather crucial fuel canisters, and pack your rocket ship for a safe return home. Across five distinct levels, you will face five unique types of extra-terrestrial threats. Once you clear the fifth stage, the level counter loops back to the beginning, allowing hardcore high-score chasers to keep the momentum going infinitely.

While the game is a nod to a classic, the developers have introduced a few tweaks to improve the original formula. For starters, you no longer have to catch fuel tanks or bonus items mid-air; they remain collectable even after hitting the ground, allowing for much more flexible survival strategies. The game also gives you extra life for every 500 points you accumulate, giving skilled players a fighting chance against the escalating chaos.

The game was created with HAS (High Amiga Assembler):

The game was tested on a real Amiga 600 and WinUAE emulator.
