The video game music repository KHInsider has received a significant amount of attention lately. An impressive list of 71 newly added games on March 11th greeted visitors to the main page at downloads.khinsider.com. However, further scrolling revealed that this simple, ad-free site has been uploading even more soundtracks. One particular standout day was March 8th, with over a thousand soundtracks uploaded.
KHInsider is able to upload such large numbers because it accepts uploads of any game, not just popular ones. This increases the chances that visitors seeking obscure titles may actually find the desired soundtracks. For example, the action/puzzle game Clever & Smart, based on the Spanish comic Mortadelo y Filemón, for the Amiga and Commodore 64, now has its soundtrack available on the site. The uploader, Chamisio, also added soundtracks from the 1990 Monty Python’s Flying Circus game for those platforms, a shoot-em-up scroller.
One of the notable retro titles recently added is Mortal Kombat II, specifically the versions released for Game Gear, Game Boy, and Master System. With a vast number of games added to the database since its inception in 2015, it’s impossible to provide a comprehensive list of recent additions. To check if KHInsider has recordings of your favorite game, it’s best to visit the website yourself. There’s a good chance that even the most obscure earworms can be found there. Personally, I enjoy the soundtrack of Tetris Attack for the original Game Boy, added on July 29th, 2023. Thanks, Tailikku.
