Extra Sweetness: Bomb Jack Revived in Indie Retro News

Indie Retro News: Bomb Jack Extra Sugar

I have fond memories of playing the Arcade port ‘Bomb Jack’ on my Amstrad CPC 464 in the late 80s. This game required players to high jump and float around to eliminate bombs on the screen before they could be used to destroy historical landmarks, all while avoiding enemies. Recently, Xyphoe informed us on Twitter that this classic game has been remade for the Amstrad CPC by Anthony Flack.

While the original Amstrad CPC version is still enjoyable, this remake offers an enhanced experience. It features an original Arcade title screen, improved animations, Arcade-like enemy sprites, graphics closer to the Arcade version, and many other enhancements that make it a must-play on your Amstrad!

Featuring:

  • Faithful recreation of the arcade game (more or less)
  • 50hz gameplay (mostly)
  • Much abuse of the CPC’s 4 colour screen mode
  • 4 difficulty settings
  • High score saving
  • New game modes
  • New backgrounds
  • New level layouts
  • Level randomiser
  • Achievements (trophies)
  • Built-in cheats
