Great news for fans of Taito’s Bubble Bobble! An upcoming, graphically enhanced version called ‘Bubble Bobble Remastered’ is set to launch for the Commodore 64, courtesy of Dave’s Retro Force. Exciting feedback from viewers includes comments like, “The C64 version was my favorite, and this looks amazing!” and “Wow, fantastic work! It’s very close to the arcade version .” Be sure to catch the latest gameplay footage and updates!
Here’s the latest: “Bubble Bobble C64 Remastered – WIP 4 – We’re making progress! There’s been a lot of development since the last update! All primary graphics have been finalized, collectible items have been redrawn and recolored, discrepancies with the arcade version have been addressed, and the info panel has been completely revamped. We’ve even upgraded the font to match the original arcade for greater authenticity. Can you notice all the new features?”
The overall look is now much more aligned with the arcade classic while accommodating the constraints of the C64. Some visual compromises had to be made, but we’ve pushed the hardware to its limits while keeping the original engine intact. There’s still more programming work to be done to address some hardcoded graphical behaviors, and we’re exploring ways to possibly enhance gameplay.
