The Mission:
We aim to bring people together through a multi-generational video gaming experience, providing a space for connections.
I had the opportunity to meet and interview the owner of “Arcade 92” in Flower Mound, TX. His full interview will be featured in the May issue of Old School Gamer Magazine. Here is a glimpse of what makes Arcade 92 unique among arcades across the country. At Arcade 92, patrons can enjoy a mix of retro and modern arcade games and pinball machines, as well as play their favorite console games from Atari 2600 to XBOX ONE. Founder Michael Lepsch’s dream since the third grade became a reality in 2019 with the opening of his first location in McKinney, TX, followed by a second location in Flower Mound, TX in 2023.
Arcade 92’s Story
As children of the 1980s and 1990s, we witnessed the birth of the gamer subculture. Growing up in an analog era transitioning into a digital age, we played video games on consoles like Nintendo, Sega Genesis, Gameboys, and Game Gears. While home and portable gaming systems offered convenience, the allure of arcade machines was undeniable. In 1992, a pivotal year, saw the resurgence of arcades with hits like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Street Fighter 2.
We have come a long way from the early days of arcade gaming. After the video game crash of 1983, the industry faced uncertainty, but the events of 1992 revitalized and shaped American gamer culture. Arcade 92 serves as a testament to the nostalgia and diversity of games, spanning decades of gaming history.
