Street Fighter II 128K: The Authentic CPC Edition Revealed in Gameplay Footage [2021 Update]

Street Fighter II 128K - The REAL CPC Edition shown off in this gameplay footage [2021 UPDATE]

This year has been incredible for the Amstrad CPC, overflowing with a variety of homebrew games. While we enjoyed the fantastic Amiga to Amstrad port of Pinball Dreams, there’s still more to explore. You might recall our detailed article on the striking homebrew remake of Street Fighter II, known as ‘Street Fighter II – CPC Edition,’ developed by DaDMaN and AugustoRuiz for the Amstrad CPC 6128 (128Kb RAM). Recently, a new teaser video was released, showcasing the game’s progress and gameplay experience.

Impressive, isn’t it? If you’re not familiar with Street Fighter II and its significance for this remake, here’s a quote from our earlier article: Think back to 1992, when Capcom’s highly anticipated beat ‘em up, Street Fighter II, made its debut on the C64 and ZX Spectrum. The Amstrad CPC version was expected to arrive over a year and a half later, as per Amstrad Action, but it never materialized—potentially due to scrapped development. Some years on, a homebrew version based on the Gameboy port was released on the Amstrad CPC by Hermol; however, it didn’t quite capture the Amstrad’s full potential. Now, we have this exciting development, with a release likely on the horizon.

Update: Saberman has released a video depicting the tech demo, something we hadn’t seen before. However, I haven’t published a new article since the tech demo dates back to 2021! For now, consider this an addition to the previous article.
