Stern Pinball to Produce “Extremely Limited” Runs of Beatles, Stranger Things, Black Knight Pinball Machines in December, Possibly Outsourcing Production

Stern Pinball Doing "Extremely Limited" Production Runs of Beatles, Stranger Things, Black Knight in December + Contract Manufacturing?

Stern Pinball has announced that they will be doing “extremely limited runs” of older titles in December using the remaining parts they have in the factory. This includes Beatles Gold, Stranger Things Pro, Black Knight Pro, and JAWS Pro and Premium. The Beatles Gold run is surprising, but it is within the rules set by Stern in 2018. Stern had previously announced the production of Godzilla 70th Anniversary and Star Wars Comic machines in early December, with the Godzilla 70th run being the last one for that version. This, along with the new short runs, is leading up to the announcement of Stern’s next cornerstone game, which is rumored to be Dungeons and Dragons designed by Brian Eddy.

The amusement industry has been cyclical over the years, with Williams Manufacturing creating a subsidiary called Williams Innovative Technologies, Inc. in 1984 to help keep the factory running during a slow period. Contract manufacturing has been considered by modern pinball companies as the industry returns to normal, with Stern having experience in producing games for other companies in the past. There have been rumors of Stern potentially partnering with Dutch Pinball to produce their upcoming Back to the Future pinball machine, considering Dutch’s capacity issues. While this is just a rumor, the potential partnership could benefit both companies.
