It’s only January, but there have already been numerous Amiga game news stories, making it hard to keep up! Games like Bad Dudes vs DragonNinja, Castlevania AGA, Tracker Hero, and WIZONK have already been featured. The latest news is that 2Bit Combo is working on a mech platformer called ‘Operation Steel Rain’. This scorpion engine game draws inspiration from SNES/Sega Mega Drive classics like Assault Suits Valken (Cybernator), Front Mission: Gun Hazard, and Ranger-X.
Here’s the latest update from the developer: “Operation Steel Rain is an old school mecha platform game from the SNES and Mega Drive era, similar to Assault Suits Valken (Cybernator), Front Mission: Gun Hazard, and Ranger-X. It’s being developed for Amiga AGA computers using the excellent Scorpion Engine, which will allow for ports to other platforms like MegaDrive and NeoGeo in the future. The project is in its early stages, and the “demo” available allows players to walk, jump, fly, and destroy enemies. It’s a basic preview for now.”
