New Chantey Game Boy and Chromatic Release

Chantey released for Game Boy and Chromatic

The much-anticipated release of Chantey for the Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Chromatic platforms was confirmed by ModRetro on March 27th. Developed as an open world rhythm-based RPG using Game Boy Studio software, Chantey had originally been slated for a Q1 2025 release and managed to meet that deadline with just days to spare. A demo of the game, branded as the prologue, can be accessed here and offers an estimated ten hours of gameplay. Created by Gortyn Code, an indie game studio based in Greece, Chantey is currently only available in English. Set in an alternate version of the mid-seventeenth century Golden Age of piracy, Chantey incorporates heavy metal music instead of traditional sea shanties. With game design, programming, graphics, and sound all credited to K.C. Apostolakis, the soundtrack features the song “Nomad” by Wise Nomad. To mark its formal release on March 26th, Gortyn Code shared a launch trailer showcasing the game in action.
