Indie Retro News: Doom8088 - A rather impressive episode 1 port of Doom for Atari ST computers!

Doom was never launched on the Atari ST/STE, nor did it appear on any other systems from that era, as it was far ahead of its time in terms of technology. Luckily, thanks to FrenkelS, you can now enjoy the Atari ST Edition! This version is a port engineered for Atari ST computers, built on the Doom8088 framework, which was adapted for 16-bit DOS machines. To celebrate this release, Saberman has shared some gameplay footage from the Atari ST/STE.

For some context, “Doom was initially developed in 1993 for 32-bit DOS computers with 4 MB of RAM. The game is primarily written in C, with minimal assembly code. It has been adapted to many different platforms, typically those with 32-bit architectures or higher and a flat memory model. The Doom8088: Atari ST Edition is specifically designed for Atari ST computers and stems from the existing 16-bit DOS port.”
