Atari Gives End-of-Year 2024 Business Update

Atari Concludes 2024 with Successful Game Releases Following Retro-Focused Growth Strategy

NEW YORK, Jan. 17, 2025 – Atari®, a renowned consumer brand and interactive entertainment producer, has wrapped up a fruitful year with the launch of retro-inspired games Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind, The Thing: Remastered, and RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic for console and PC platforms. These releases demonstrate Atari’s belief that games based on popular, recognizable IPs can thrive in a competitive market.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind reached the third spot on the Nintendo eShop’s best-sellers list, with RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic also making it into the top 15. The Thing: Remastered received positive feedback from critics and players, becoming Nightdive Studios’ fastest-selling title at launch across digital PC and console stores.

In addition, Atari fulfilled preorders and capitalized on the holiday season by releasing the Atari 7800+ retro console, featuring HDMI and wireless controllers. This launch followed the successful debut of the 2600+ console, reintroducing cartridge-based gaming.

Atari’s strategic shift in 2023 towards classic gaming led to the acquisitions of game studios Digital Eclipse and Nightdive Studios, enhancing the company’s ability to bring retro games to modern platforms and develop content around beloved IPs.

In 2024, Nightdive Studios released Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster and The Thing: Remastered, along with bringing System Shock to PlayStation and Xbox consoles. Digital Eclipse added new titles to its Gold Master series and launched Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration Extended Edition and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind.

Atari also expanded its publishing reach under the Infogrames brand, acquiring the rights to various game franchises and exploring new distribution channels.

Wade Rosen, Chairman and CEO of Atari, expressed satisfaction with the company’s performance in 2024 and confidence in their retro-focused strategy for future success.
